Buying Guide: How to Choose the Right Binoculars for F1?

I know tons of options can easily get you lost and make the wrong decision when buying binoculars. Many options and features play an important role in making binoculars useful or trash. In the below section, I will give some very important or key points that you should consider before making a final decision.

1- Build Quality

In the past, the technology was less advanced and the materials used to build binoculars were not up to the mark. But, things have changed now, as more advanced and durable materials are being used to manufacture binoculars. For example, aluminum and magnesium are two building materials that make binos durable. On the other hand, the plastic material that we used to use in the past is cheap.

But what should you look at when choosing binoculars for Formula One racing? I recommend you prioritize aluminum and magnesium materials as they make binoculars strong and durable. Although the usage of these materials makes binoculars slightly more expensive, paying slightly more gives you a durable option to have for watching Formula One racing.

2- Optical Performance

As said earlier, the technology has improved, so the optical performance and quality have also gone up. Different HD glasses, high-quality lenses, and coating are being applied to enhance the visual quality. You should also make sure that your chosen binoculars have excellent visual quality. In case you feel that the chosen binocular is not giving a brighter visual with excellent clarity, return it immediately and look for another one with better optical performance.

3- Lightweight and Easy to Carry

Most of the time, F1 races last for 2 hours and if you buy binoculars with a heavyweight then chances are high that you’ll easily get tired because of the weight. So, I recommend you choose a binocular that is lightweight and easy to carry. Going with heavier binos is useless.

4- Easy to Focus

Make sure that you choose binoculars that have excellent focusing mechanisms. I suggest you go with the autofocus feature because such binoculars help you focus even if you are in motion or walking. Going with binos having poor focusing systems is not a good practice as it can surely affect your viewing comfort.

1- Upland Optics Perception HD Binoculars for F1

Upland Optics Perception HD Binoculars for F1

Compact size is always beneficial, no matter what purpose you have behind the purchase of binoculars. Luckily, these Upland binoculars are very compact and you can even carry them in your pocket. Their body dimensions are as follows;

4.9x2x5.5 inches

Extra-low dispersion glasses have been used for top-notch image clarity. No matter if you use them in daylight conditions or in low light conditions, the corner of the image will be very clear like crystal. Their objective lens size is also optimal for capturing a decent amount of light.

Most of the competitor products give images whose edges are not clear. These binoculars come with lenses that reduce chromatic aberration and make the periphery of the image very clear. The rubber material is used, which is not very strong but optimal, and, with a bit of care, you can make them durable.

The most important, but unfortunately neglected, part is the ease of useability. These binoculars come with 17 mm of eye relief, which is considered ideal. Better eye relief helps you keep some distance between your eyes and the eyepiece, which makes it easier for you to use binoculars for longer periods.

While keeping an eye on Flora and Fauna, you won’t like to get tired of carrying binoculars. So, we recommend choosing those optics that are lightweight and compact. The overall weight of these binoculars is just 23 ounces, which is considered optimal.

Note: Due to their low light, they don’t make you feel tired while watching the F1 racing.

We have tested their water and fog proofing capabilities, and we were pretty impressed by their ceiling and protection. Strong o-ring seals with nitrogen purging make the binoculars resistant to water, moisture, and fog.

Pros
  • Excellent water and fog proofing
  • Outstanding image clarity
  • Ideal eye relief
  • Compact and lightweight
Cons
  • We have used them for more than 10 days, and we are confident in saying that these are the ideal binoculars that can give you amazing performance. We literally failed to find any flaws in these optics.

Key takeaways

These are outstandingly performing binoculars with 100% image clarity and waterproofing. But if you are looking to have a wider field of view, then we don’t recommend you purchase them.

2- Nikon Aculon 10×42 Binoculars

Nikon Aculon 10x42 Binoculars

These Nikon binoculars are well known for their wider field of view, image brightness, and astonishing clarity and precision in low-light conditions. The wider field of view is due to aspherical eyepiece lenses, enhanced clarity is due to the Eco glass which is used in lenses, and the brightness is due to multi-coating present on all the glassy parts of these binoculars.

So you can use them in low light conditions and you will be pretty satisfied with the performance. You will get a central focus system in these binoculars, which allows you to adjust the focus very quickly, making you able to get all the glimpses of your favorite animals.

These binoculars come with turn-and-slide rubber eyecups, which are good for extended usage as they increase the ease of usability and provide a comfortable viewing experience. One thing that we did not like about these binoculars was their eye relief.

Their bodies are economically designed, and the thumb indents present on them help the user to have a solid grip and handle. Even if you use them in rainy weather, your grip will be optimally strong and they will not slip out of your hands.

As far as their weight is concerned, they are lightweight, weighing 26 oz. However, the previous product was more compact and lighter than this one. Water and fogproofing are also standard in these optics.

Note: Their prices are very low, and I consider them a very good option for those who are on a tight budget. Don’t worry, as they are affordable, never means that their quality is compromised.

Pros
  • Outstanding image quality
  • Durability and longevity
  • Optimal size
  • Affordable pricing
Cons
  • These binoculars come compromised eye relief.

How are these binoculars different from the previous product?

One thing that we did not like about them is their eye relief. If you have plans to use your binoculars for a long period of time, then we don’t recommend you choose them as they won’t provide you with a comfortable experience.

3- Vortex Optics Viper Binoculars

Vortex Optics Viper Binoculars

The most important feature that we liked about these binoculars is their strong body. We threw them from a distance of 10 feet to check their build quality. We were pretty happy to see that there were no little scratches on their housing.

Their bodies are made up of composite material, which is a mixture of many strong components, so these optics are unbreakable and unscratchable. Moreover, the rubber armor chassis and the coating further enhance their body strength.

Most people make their buying decisions based on image quality and clarity. The visual quality is top notch and you will be impressed by the clarity, brightness, color contrast, and fidelity.

These are premium binoculars with argon gas purging instead of nitrogen, so you can expect high-quality waterproofing in them. Due to premium gas purging, the overall prices of these binoculars are a bit on the higher side.

You can adjust the focus of your eyes very quickly and efficiently. Moreover, the individual eyes’ focus can also be adjusted, which makes the deal more attractive. Their eye relief and twist to adjust your eyes increase the comfort of using them for a long period.

Pros
  • Dirt dust and scratches proof
  • Outstanding color contrast in images
  • Lightweight and compact in size
  • Adjustable eyecups and a strong body
Cons
  • Their prices are on a higher side and a common man with average monthly salary cannot afford them. However, their top notch quality deserves the prices.

How are these binoculars different from previous products?

We are impressed by their build quality. The composite material with rubber chassis and coating makes them durable. No other optics reviewed in this guide are as strong as these binoculars are!

4- Celestron – DX 8×42 Binoculars

Celestron binoculars are another budget binoculars that offer value for the money you spend. One thing that I love about these bones is their affordability. Anyone new to optics can choose them blindly.

I’m sure that you will be thinking why I suggest these optics for newbies who are new to optics. Look, these binos don’t have fancy features and they come with what you need for watching the F1 racing. No fancy features or stuff make them very simple and easy to use even for those who are new to the world of optics.

They are lightweight just like the upland optics mentioned above and they are easy to carry. Their box contains a neck strap and carries a case which makes their portability easy. All you will have to do is wear the neck strap around your neck attach your binos with a neck strap and enjoy. You won’t have to carry them in your hands.

Are you thinking about the build quality? Well, it is not perfect, but decent enough, and if you take care of them, they can be with you for years. They are made with rubber armor material which is not very strong, but again their prices are very low so no one can complain about their build quality.

In case you receive a faulty product, or your chosen Celestron binoculars get any fault, then the company is backing you by providing a lifetime no-question-asked warranty. The visual quality of these optics is also up to the mark as their phase-coated BaK-4 glass prisms maximize light transmission and ensure that you get an excellent visual even at low light conditions.

Pros
  • Excellent optical performance
  • Weight Weight and easy to carry
  • Free of cost additional accessories
Cons
  • I don’t like their build quality – it is just decent, not ideal. However, the price of these binos are low as well so I cannot complain.

How are these binoculars different from previous products?

These Celestron binoculars are a complete package in the budget category. They offer additional accessories like a neck strap, carrying case, objective lens caps, an eyepiece rain guard, and a lens cloth, which make them stand out.

Conclusion

After the hard work that has been done behind the scenes, we can guide you about those binoculars that are perfect for F1. Choosing any of them will give you equally good results and you won’t feel like you’re having cheaper binoculars.

Our team has put some serious effort into making us able to bring this wonderful guide to you. We hope that our efforts will bring some goodness to your decision-making process.
